Bear pencil keeper

This work was made in sheet metal and painted with automotive spray (2003). The details on the bear's face and the tie were painted with acrylics. Its function is to keep office tools such as pencil, eraser, sharpener and other stuff like that. The bear's left hand has a clip shape so you can put notes or a photo, for example.

It was a work for class. When I showed the idea to my teacher, she told me to give up and try another design, because I wouldn't be able to do it with the available tools in the workshop. But I didn't give up at all! I tought "Maybe it's difficult but I'll try it anyway." Well, it was hard and even dangerous to make this bear shape using the band saw. While cutting a small piece for the bear's hand, my fingers had to pass quite near the edge. Oh, needed a lot of concentration... But I did it! And the bear has been on my desk ever since.

On the right side there's a virtual version of it, that I modeled using the software AutoCAD and rendered in 3D Studio Max. The objects inside are from ArchiMobili.
